NTSB JOINT PRESS CONFERENCE NTSB * October 4, 2007WASHINGTON, DC -- The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB),along with Mother's Against Drunk Driving (MADD), the American MedicalAssociation, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety will holda joint press conference to highlight the results from studies thatfound conclusively that the age 21 drinking laws decreasealcohol-related fatalities by 16 percent. The press conference will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at10:30 A.M. at the NTSB Board Room and Conference Center, 429 L'EnfantPlaza, S.W., Washington, DC.The NTSB has a long record of advocating highway safety and has issuedhundreds of highway safety recommendations. Seven of thoserecommendations, which dealt with age 21 laws, were on the agency'sMost Wanted List and removed because they were accomplished by theStates. The recommendations urged States to close age 21 loopholes,increase enforcement and education, impose sanctions and require zeroalcohol tolerance.The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimatesnearly 1,000 lives are saved each year because of the Minimum DrinkingAge Law (MLDA).Attending the press conference will be:* Mark V.
